As the Vice Chancellor Information Technology, I am responsible for system-wide coordination of Information Technology which includes the following functions: data warehouse functions for institutional research and analytics, enterprise architecture, application development, data center operations, disaster recovery and business continuity operations, system design, capacity planning, system security, system integration, database management, telephony, network management, district wide campus technology services, capital equipment and technology procurement, contract administration, and quality control management. I lead the system-wide IT governance process to coordinate policy development, develop strategic technology requirements plans and budgets and plan for the integration of all facilities and construction of new buildings into the IT infrastructure. The IT Department has 150+ staff and a $23m+ budget.
My successes include the planning and implementation of technology and infrastructure of over 2m sq.ft. of educational space, the redesign and replacement of the district wide network infrastructure and equipment, the development and annual testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, the implementation of virtual and hosted technologies that have reduced the server foot print by 60%, the implementation of operational efficiencies, grants and contract renegotiations that have saved the district over $30m and international initiatives which include the build-out of two college campuses in Doha, Qatar and the reaccreditation of our partners in Riyadh Community College in Saudi Arabia under NCAAA and SaigonTech in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam under SACS.
